BTA Tinnitus Awareness Week 2022

BTA2022 image 2a

Tinnitus Awareness Week 2022, 7th - 13th February, is promoted by the British Tinnitus Association. Tinnitus is a ringing, humming, buzzing, or other sound in your head or ears that does not have an external source. The sound originates from within your head. About 10% of the population is affected by tinnitus - that is almost 0.5 million people in Ireland alone. The theme for this #TinnitusWeek is based on the campaign ‘making tinnitus research an urgent priority’. We would also like to generate discussion about tinnitus and raise awarenes of prevention through protection

earpeace™ provides a full range of support services for patients with tinnitus symptoms. Please pick up our Tinnitus Information leaflet "Tinnitus and You" at your local GP Practice, or ENT Department. We are currently enrolling for our "Mastering your relationship with Tinnitus" events online via a series of zoom sessions. If you or someone you know suffers from tinnitus, now is the time to take steps to improve ones quality of life.

Contact our office to arrange an appointment. Typically a team of healthcare professionals will be involved in the management of tinnitus, e.g., your GP, ENT Consultant (where required) and your earpeace™ Audiologist.

Tinnitus is the unseen condition which can cause distress to individuals of any age. Tinnitus can be mild to severe and can affect sleep and concentration. It can also lead to anxiety and depression and at this time there is currently no absolute cure. However, tinnitus can be managed. The British Tinnitus Association aims to bring awareness to those with tinnitus by:

  • encouraging them to talk about their tinnitus and
  • make those with tinntius aware that help is available.

At earpeace™ we believe this is a very worthwhile initiative and we will be undertaking activities in the coming weeks to support tinnitus awareness.

earpeace™ is a privately owned Irish Company, with its head office located in Galway, Ireland. The company is committed to providing exemplary audiology services and associated world leading technology products to its customers throughout Ireland.
