Promoting Hearing Protection to Swimmers

A Magazine "Irish Swimmer" has just been launched in Ireland which is dedicated to the sport - apparently the first of its kind! The aim of the magazine is to "inspire and motivate all swimmers, from the recreational dipper through to elite-level athletes".

Because of our involvement in promoting hearing protection, through our blogs, talks, and news items, we were delighted to accept the opportunity of advertising the products and services available at earpeace™ in this inaugural edition of the Irish Swimmer. Those of you involved in open sea swimming and triathlons, whether elite-level athletes or casual goal setters, the catamaran custom swim molds are a must in assisting in the prevention of Swimmer's ear.

ATA Tinnitus Awareness Week 2014

Tinnitus Awareness Week 2014, 18th - 24th May, is promoted by the American Tinnitus Association.

Tinnitus is a ringing, humming, buzzing, or other sound in your head or ears that does not have an external source. The sound originates from within your head. About 10% of the population is affected by tinnitus - that is almost 0.5 million people in Ireland alone.

earpeace™ provides a full range of support services for patients with tinnitus symptoms. We are currently enrolling new patients for consultations commencing in June. If you or someone you know suffers from tinnitus, now is the time to take steps to improve ones quality of life.

International Ear Care Day

Today is international ear care day, #earcareday. According to the World Health Organisation, over 5% of the world's population – 360 million people – has disabling hearing loss (328 million adults and 32 million children). Disabling hearing loss refers to hearing loss greater than 40dB in the better hearing ear in adults and a hearing loss greater than 30dB in the better hearing ear in children. The majority of these people live in low- and middle-income countries.

Approximately one-third of people over 65 years of age are affected by disabling hearing loss. The prevalence in this age group is greatest in South Asia, Asia Pacific and sub-Saharan Africa.

eplogo-70x100px earpeace™ is pleased to announce that we have put in place an all-make repair service for hearing aids, which will give customers piece of mind that their hearing aids can be serviced economically beyond the period of the original manufacturer's warranty. It is not necessary to have bought your hearing aid(s) from earpeace™ in order to avail of these services. This is part of our strategy to make audiology services more accessible to all. In addition, earpeace™ is listed on the Medical Appliance Panel so customers who qualify for the grant
