Tinnitus Awareness Week 2014, 18^th - 24^th May, is promoted by the American Tinnitus Association.

Tinnitus is a ringing, humming, buzzing, or other sound in your head or ears that does not have an external source. The sound originates from within your head. About 10% of the population is affected by tinnitus - that is almost 0.5 million people in Ireland alone.

International Ear Care Day

Today is international ear care day, #earcareday. According to the World Health Organisation, over 5% of the world's population – 360 million people – has disabling hearing loss (328 million adults and 32 million children). Disabling hearing loss refers to hearing loss greater than 40dB in the better hearing ear in adults and a hearing loss greater than 30dB in the better hearing ear in children. The majority of these people live in low- and middle-income countries.

Approximately one-third of people over 65 years of age are affected by disabling hearing loss. The prevalence in this age group is greatest in South Asia, Asia Pacific and sub-Saharan Africa.

earpeace™ is pleased to announce that we have put in place an all-make repair service for hearing aids, which will give customers piece of mind that their hearing aids can be serviced economically beyond the period of the original manufacturer's warranty. It is not necessary to have bought your hearing aid(s) from earpeace™ in order to avail of these services. This is part of our strategy to make audiology services more accessible to all.
